Police on Monday continued to investigate a fight at a downtown Los Angeles strip club that ended with two men losing legs when they were rammed by a car.
The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday at Sam’s Hofbrau in the 900 block of Olympic Boulevard, near Alameda Street. According to investigators, a fight broke out inside the club between 40-year-old Terrence Conrad Meeks, of Paramount, and two Latino men.
The altercation, which apparently included racial slurs, escalated and then spilled outside. Police say Meeks got behind the wheel of his white BMW and slammed into the two other men as they were standing in front of their Mini Cooper.
The victims were pinned between the two cars, according to authorities. Witnesses told police Meeks appeared to be intoxicated at the time. The victims — ages 24 and 57 — were rushed to the hospital, where they were listed in critical but stable condition.
Doctors said one man would have both legs amputated above the knee, and the other would have his right leg amputated above the knee. Their names have not been released, and their relationship to one another was not immediately known.
Meeks was being held on $500,000 bail and faces charges of attempted manslaughter and DUI.
